Painting the Roses

So I was a little bored the other night and wanted to see if I could turn a fabric craft store bought rose into one that I cannot find anywhere for sale. I grabbed my prismacolor markers and had at it. After a little less then four hours (that's counting a few breaks and a few drinks) I was very happy with the end result. The markers blended great on this rose. It has more of a fabric feel then the "real touch" or whatever those rubbery ones are called. I did learn a few things though; orange bleeds and red bleeds a hell of a lot...wear latex gloves! My fingers still have some stains on them.

Now some more reasons why I tried this: I am looking for either circus roses or high & magic roses for my wedding. I have not been able to find silk or fabric versions of these anywhere. Now I know I can make my own and they will be exactly as I want them. Plus my bridesmaids and I will get to keep them forever!

And of course while I was working on this, Jeremy went and said I need to make one in my Ulysses Swallowtail pattern and now I really want to try it...
Need to go buy more roses.....damn it.
